Darkbeam joins new cohort of cybersecurity innovators

London, January 14, 2020 - Darkbeam today announces their participation in the fourth cohort of the London Office for Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement (LORCA) programme for cyber innovators. Designed to protect UK industry against the latest cyber threats, LORCA has selected companies designing efficient methods to fight off machine-speed threats and supply chain risk with the ultimate aim of growing the British cybersecurity industry and making the UK the safest place to be online.

This new LORCA cohort will see 20 scaleups taking part and is the programme’s largest and most international group to date. Although the majority of selected businesses are British, Darkbeam competed with companies from around the world to be selected and will be joined in cohort four by firms from Israel, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Singapore and the US.

The latest cohort members were invited to apply to LORCA based on innovation themes identified by industry leaders from key sectors. Darkbeam’s offering is tailored at addressing the ‘Connected Economy’ theme, working to help businesses stay resilient against threats targeting their supply chain and extended networks.

Delivered by Plexal, the innovation centre at Here East in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the year-long LORCA programme will support Darkbeam to scale, secure further investment and access new markets and participate in overseas trade missions.
After launching in 2018 with backing from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, LORCA has successfully run three previous cohorts, with members going on to secure more than £58m in investment.

Saj Huq, Programme Director, LORCA, was delighted to welcome the new cohort members: “LORCA exists to bring cutting-edge technology to market and to enable the most promising cyber innovators become globally competitive businesses. The international reach and the variety of solutions within our incoming fourth cohort is an exciting demonstration of both the strength and attractiveness of the UK market, as well as an illustration of the increasingly prominent role that LORCA plays as a convener and collaborator within the global innovation ecosystem.”

Justin Leary, Head of Intelligence, Darkbeam, is looking forward to making the most of working with LORCA: “LORCA has featured fantastic cyber firms right from the beginning of the programme, and it’s exciting to have Darkbeam recognised at the same level. The next few months at LORCA will enable the Darkbeam team to bring our solutions to new audiences and develop new capabilities even faster than before to help our clients stay one step ahead of attackers.”
