Head of Intelligence
Justin Leary is a former Police Officer with a background in intelligence. Working as both a practitioner and a manager within the Metropolitan Police Service, Justin had roles in the Telecommunications Intelligence Unit and the Open Source Unit – using the internet as an investigatory tool.
Justin was also project lead on a change program aimed at implementing and improving open source capabilities and social media analytics across the organisation ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.
Since leaving the police service, Justin has performed a number of roles focused around providing open source and analytical software designed specifically for law enforcement and public sector practitioners.
Today as a co-founder of Darkbeam, Justin is dedicated to bringing his domain expertise to Darkbeam clients and helping organisations to thrive in complex risk environments.
As Chief Technology Officer at Darkbeam, Steve heads up our research efforts and leads the development team to deliver a consistently evolving offering in the threat visibility space.
Previously serving as an intelligence analyst in the British Armed Forces, Steve has more than 20 years of experience in the development of IT and cybersecurity solutions.
He co-founded Darkbeam with Justin to address what he saw as the indefensible lag in actionable threat intelligence needed by technical teams to defend against cyberattacks and bad actors.
Never afraid to build something innovative or challenging, Steve was first placed military contestant in the GCHQ/US Department of Defence Cyber Forensics Competition in 2013.
Today, Steve's focus is on building a new generation of risk visibility and threat assessment tools to protect Darkbeam users from attacks via their supply chain.
Charles is an experienced and well-regarded senior executive. He co-founded Rosslyn Data Technologies Plc and Darkbeam whilst also serving as an advisor for a number of other successful technology and investment companies.
Charles’ particular interest is helping young companies achieve their dreams. With an MBA from City University Business School, Charles focuses his skills on raising capital, building sales distribution channels and marketing.
Prior to this he was an Executive Director of the asset management division of Panmure Gordon, managing £1.3bn globally, where he had a particular interest and focus on technology.
Charles’ passion for intelligence insights stems from his time serving with the British Army where he served on active service in theatres of operation. Today, Charles is proud to be a mentor for ex-servicemen and actively supports charity work. When he’s not busy trying to change the world, Charles loves his golf!
Of course, Darkbeam couldn't exist without a wider team to develop and deliver our solutions to our clients.
We're supported by Adam and Nobuyuki in our development team, Russell Seabrook and Ruby Pope heading up Sales and Marketing respectively, and our great team of sector-specific advisors including David Ward, Andrew Smith and Mark Eccles-Williams.
